Subhash Kataria, the new owner of the Jasper Inn and Convention Center, says the first thing that attracted him to the iconic property were its classic looks.

After six months of due diligence, Kataria says, with those classic looks and features like the dome and indoor pool, he sees the Jasper Inn as a property with a lot of potential.

Enjoy a Victorian Era Christmas in Huntingburg’s Christmas Stroll

It’s the time of year when silver bells ring and people greet each other with good cheer. The time when families get together to share stories and memories. The garland gets hung on the fireplace and carolers sing their yuletide tunes.

First in the lineup of events is Huntingburg’s Victorian Christmas Stroll. With its downtown full of specialty shops and antique stores, you are sure to find wonderful stocking stuffers and the perfect gift. Currently in its 27th year, the Christmas Stroll heralds the official start of the holiday season in southern Indiana November 9 – 11. This event has no admission charge.

Ferdinand’s Christkindlmarkt hearkens a Bavarian style Christmas.

Ferdinand is the next on the list with something a bit more Bavarian with their Christkindlmarkt (sounds like krist-kindle-marked). This Christmas market flourishes throughout the town with all sorts of crafts, artisans and entertainment all while enjoying Yuletide food and beverages that will delight your senses. The festival begins on the eve of the celebration with a Christmas Angel appearing from the Gothic doors of an old world monastery crypt as a live Nutcracker waves a banner standing guard, monks chant resounding chords, trumpeters herald in the season, and a bell choir of nuns perform angelic tunes. Join the abundance of people for this free celebration November 17th and 18th.

We have many spaces that will fit the needs of business meetings of all types.

Our convention center is ideal for weddings, but it can also be used for many other occasions. We have meeting roomsthat can be set up to seat 12-50 people. These areas can be used as smaller breakout rooms if you need to meet with the larger group as a whole and then have smaller meetings.

We have a formal Executive Board Room that seats 12 people. Our Hickory room seats the same amount, but is for less formal meetings and could be used for brainstorming sessions with its large round table. The Sycamore room is a great area that is closer to guest rooms in the hotel. The Maple and Pecan rooms make great training areas that would be ideal for any lecture or open discussion. Of course, our large convention area is customizable as we can take the entire convention hall and break it into smaller rooms that will fit your needs better.

Our policy for not smoking in the pool atrium and common areas of the hotel have been enforced for a while now. Many folks appreciate that as we have heard in our surveys and feedback forms. Indiana has passed a state law that requires smoking to be banned in any public place or place of employment. We did have a few smoking rooms, but come July 1, 2012 we will no longer have any smoking rooms available. Because our rooms are cleaned by our housekeeping staff daily, we cannot allow smoking in any room. We will continue to allow smokers to light up outside in the parking lot, but the law states that a smoker must be 8 feet away from the entrance while smoking.

I assumed all of this would be tiered pricing and add up to be a lot of money.
